Week recap: Wii still warm; PS3 at 100M; Xbox 360 games at $39
This week, Nintendo announced that New Super Mario Bros. has sold over 500,000 units in the U.S. The game is currently No. 1 in Japan.
The Nintendo DS Lite remains the top-selling hardware in Japan and outsold other offerings like the PSP, PS2, and Xbox 360.
Nintendo offered free copies of Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day with purchase of a new Nintendo DS Lite at select retailers. The game sells for $19.99.
Lawyer simulation game Phoenix Wright came and went at retail this week. The rare game was available at several online retailers before selling out to eager customers.
Nintendo announced this week that Sudoku Gridmaster will drop to retail on June 26. The casual offering will include 400 puzzles and four difficulty options.
Sony said this week that it aims to sell 100M Playstation 3 consoles worldwide and 50M in the U.S. alone. The PS3 will drop to select worldwide markets on Nov. 17.
PS3 Blu-ray films will retail for as low as $11.99. Amazon.com is currently offering The Terminator on Blu-ray disc at the value price.
Nintendo's Wii console is listed as 'Still Warm' on CNET's Weekly Hit List, a top twenty of hot electronics. The PS3 also lands in the same section this week.
MoSys announced this week that it will employ 1T-SRAM in the Wii. The same RAM was utilized in Nintendo's current console, GameCube. Xbox 360 first-party titles have dropped to $39.99. Titles like Kameo: Elements of Power, Perfect Dark Zero, and Project Gotham Racing 3 are advertised at Best Buy for under $40.
Finally, Sonic The Hedgehog will celebrate his 15th anniversary with four new releases on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP and GBA. The iconic game character has sold over 44M games.

44mill games sonic ay? thats pretty impressive.. What did the gamcube had to other anywayz is was way too inferior to xbox and ps2. Only selling point was its sequels to games. and I got a question for you.. Why is the ds so popular in Japan and xbox 360 so unpopular... is it a Made in the Usa Vs Made in Japn thing?  |

| I don't know... I guess Halo makes the X-Box 360 popular in the US. Must be because US kids are into blowing each other up, hah. |
