One of the most highly marketing games for the Sony PS3 this past E3 was Assassins Creed by Ubisoft Montreal, the same development studio that brought your Prince of Persia and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. When the game was first announced and shown at E3, it was assumed to be a PS3 exclusive. After all, no other platform was mentioned for the game and it was only playable on the PS3 during the event.
However, popular gaming site 1up did some digging into the history of where this title was going to land and found several discrepancies all the way back to its first announcement as a PS3 title at the Tokyo Game Show last year. It switched tunes during the Game Developers Conference to an Xbox 360 and PS3 title. Then an internal Ubisoft memo was leaked clearly pronouncing Assassins Creed as a multiplatform title for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PC and PSP.
1up decided no more screwing around and contacted Ubisoft for a straight up answer. Here is what transpired:
1UP: Is Assassin's Creed an exclusive title for the PS3 or is it only announced for the PS3?
Ubisoft: "Assassin's Creed is coming to the PS3. No other announcements have been made."
1UP: So it is not exclusive?
Ubisoft: "Assassin's Creed is coming to the PS3. No other announcements have been made."
Take it as you wish, but it seems like the Xbox 360 and possibly Wii, could get assassinated as well. Keep checking back at The Game Feed for any further updates on this amazing title.
